Eight actions you should take now

All of us at NWI Business Solutions are working at full capacity to support businesses during this pandemic. Our focus is on helping companies make the best use of their time and resources during this unusual period.

For many companies, sales activity has come to a standstill. Rather than despair, take the opportunity to work on those sales and marketing projects that have been on the back burner. By doing so, you will “prime the pump” for the future– when things have returned to normal.

Here are the eight things you should focus on during this time:

Your personal LinkedIn profile

Have you updated your profile? Unfortunately, we’ve heard from many people who have been laid off or had their hours cut. Your LinkedIn profile is YOUR resume. Updating your connections, recommendations, and published articles will only improve your online presence. Then, if necessary, you will be ready to look for a new position as soon as possible.

Did you know that your title and content should contain keywords? We are happy to assist you in defining these words and adding them to a fresh profile.

Your company LinkedIn page

Again, refresh your content and add keywords. Keep readers up to date with your hours and working capacity during the pandemic. If you are an essential business, reassure readers that your company is enforcing safety guidelines.

If you are not open at this time, but your team is donating money, food, and/or following social distancing guidelines, talk about your actions. Show photos of you working at home with your children or pets in the room or a photo of your computer screen being shared with colleagues on a virtual meeting.

Your company website

Add fresh content to your website to improve your SEO:

  • Add content to your blog. Or better yet, write and save a few articles and you will be set for the next few months.
  • Add testimonials.
  • Generate a new list of keywords and add them to your current content.
  • Rewrite your “About Us” page. Many companies neglect to update their new services, new products, and team members on a regular basis.

After you have updated your website content, reach out to your current and prospective clients and invite them to take a look at your website. Add a link to the email and remember to present it by stating how it would benefit their needs. For example, “We just added a case study and photos of a recent project which is similar to the type of work you were looking to purchase. Click on this link to learn more. I will follow up with you next week to ask for your feedback. How does Wednesday afternoon look?”

Update your database

Send a message asking old contacts if they would like to remain on your mailing list. You will be surprised to hear that some of these inactive contacts are interested in using your services in the future.

If you have not emailed your past contacts in two years, do not use a group email system like Mailchimp or Constant Contact. If several of these addresses bounce, you can be mistaken for spam and may be dropped from your service. Use your regular email provider to reach out to these contacts or only send emails to 5-10 names at a time.

Check-in with past customers by phone

Everyone appreciates a personal touch and expressions of sincere concern. Ask them how they are doing during this crisis. They need to hear the inflection and true concern in your voice.

Ask for referrals

Ask your contacts for referrals, and offer some for them in return.

Offer a special

Not everyone can volunteer on the front lines, but can you volunteer your services or discount your prices for those on the front line, non-profits or small businesses that had to close their doors? We are offering restaurants free advertising opportunities and reduced our pricing to help companies align themselves for future success.

Send thank-you notes

Send a handwritten or personalized note to your current customers, suppliers, service companies, employees who are working at home and definitely to those still at work. Words of kindness and concern are appreciated by everyone.
